Chapter 14 - The Federal Reckoning

(Restoring the Heart of Vanguard)

Two months after the boardroom confrontation, Vanguard Shipyards held its grand ceremonial reopening.

Over two thousand union workers, naval commanders, community leaders, and local families gathered around Drydock 4 beneath a brilliant, cloudless winter sky.

The historic shipyard had been completely refurbished. The old, corrupt corporate boards had been dismantled, replaced by a worker-owned executive trust ensuring high wages, comprehensive medical benefits, and permanent job security for every tradesman on the waterfront.

Tobias stood at the podium, looking out over the sea of cheering, hardworking faces. He wore a sharp navy suit, standing tall on two solid feet, his silver-gray eyes shining with unburdened pride.

"Fifteen years ago, my sister and I were told that our family legacy was dead," Tobias addressed the crowd, his voice carrying across the harbor. "We were told that power belongs to those who lie, poison, and betray in the dark. But today, standing on the soil our father built, we prove that truth, loyalty, and courage will always outlast the night."

The entire shipyard erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation that shook the drydock gates.

Tobias turned toward me, extending his hand with deep, eternal respect.

I stepped up to the microphone, looking out at the city I loved, feeling the clean, salty breeze of the Atlantic ocean fill my lungs—pure, unpoisoned, and free.

"Vanguard is open for business," I smiled. "And we are here to stay."
